Released from restricted ownership just a few years ago, the Dubai property market has been rising steadily. For projects such as the Palms, the resale market has been tremendous, with contracts swapping at a 100% increase in certain cases. Currently the lack of available housing in Dubai has caused rents to rise and led to an increase of prices in new and off plan property and new residents coming into Dubai each day will put further long term upward pressure on property prices.

Dubai is a safe and very prosperous city with a strong trading tradition. Many new developments in Dubai are now sold-out as soon as they are released, with buyers looking to the resale market, and paying a premium on the original selling price. Not long ago, premiums were barely more than the asking price - fortunate for the people who bought then! Now 10% is a low premium, while on Palm Island and in The Meadows in Dubai, some of the properties prices are double the original selling price.

People who have not yet bought property in Dubai hope that things will cool off. However, all the evidence suggests to the contrary and the Dubai property market may have only just started to take off.
